Grace Valerie: I am a Russian born singer based in LA working under Randy Jackson’s wing, developing my own sound. Currently I am getting ready to launch my second single in the beginning of 2012.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What has been the highlight of starting your singing career and why?

Grace Valerie: When I was a little girl I always loved to sing. I will never forget the day when I performed few songs for my dad’s birthday and all the guests kept calling him after to convince him to let me do it professionally. So that’s been a starting highlight because now I am blessed to have a career that I am passionate about.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: The worst Job you ever had?

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Tell us something about your new film ”Wish Wizard” starring Morgan Freeman?

Gianni Capaldi: It was a great piece put together granting children from Make-a-Wish Foundation a chance to act, assistant direct and produce this movie. There was a feel-good atmosphere on set and for once so many left their egos at home and it was all about the kids. Morgan delivered a dream come true to these kids by working on set with them. It was an honor to be asked to show up for these kids and to work with like minded actors.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you enjoy your celebrity star status?

Gianni Capaldi: Ask me in a years time. I’m pretty humble however if you want to give me a better seat at a U2 concert, I doubt I would complain.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Name one actress that you would want to be your leading lady in a film?

Gianni Capaldi: Sienna Miller or Megan Fox (Sorry Brian even though we just worked together, I wouldn’t mind stealing her on set)

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What would you do if you weren’t in the film industry?

Gianni Capaldi: I guess I would always wonder what it would be like. I think you have to try everything in life and if you don’t at least try it once you will regret that chance. I for one haven’t

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you could share a secret about yourself, what would it be?

Gianni Capaldi: I always stop to help the homeless, can’t stop myself from trying to assist them. Another one, I have a little crush on Carrie Underwood and Sienna Miller. Secrets out the bag.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What is the biggest misconception about actors and producers in Hollywood?

Gianni Capaldi: I guess unless you’re working on a solid project or have anything coming out people don’t take actors seriously and shun them. They forget the odds of probability for an actor to work in this town and to those who do work, well, I guess we got lucky. Producers are seen as people who could put you in a movie, realistically is that they would never jeopardize a film’s credibility just because a girl is pretty or someone is a friend. It has to fit artistically for the better of the movie.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How would you advise an up and coming actor or producer in getting their name and skills out to the industry?

Gianni Capaldi: First of all know your trade as an actor then network, network, network. It’s important to NOT sit back and wait for an audition. Make your own destiny, write a script, write two, get involved in producing. You must always increase your toolbox as a producer by building up your connections, actors, distributors, financiers, directors. Keep on building, your toolbox can never get too big.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What was your first major breakthrough in Hollywood?

Gianni Capaldi: I starred in a movie distributed thru SONY which comes out May 31st 2011 called “The Cross.” I worked with some of my most admired actors such as Tom Sizemore, Michael Clarke Duncan and Vinnie Jones. Followed swiftly by working with Morgan Freeman. When you start with these guys you are truly blessed.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you prefer acting over producing?

Gianni Capaldi: I prefer acting. Producing is seriously the hardest work I have ever done, it’s truly in the trenches of Hollywood. When I’m acting I sit back, eat, run lines and then get called. When you’re producing it’s a 24/7 process…

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Are there any actresses or actors you would love to work with?

Gianni Capaldi: Yes, I’m working on 2 projects. I’m trying to attach Kiera Knightley to one and Megan Fox to the other. Something which would seriously feel like a major achievement in my career. I’m looking forward to working with Peter O’toole this summer in “Defining Moments.” He for me is an absolute legend. Although my true hero has to be Daniel Day Lewis… If you ever read this Daniel, I’m game!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What’s in the pipeline for the upcoming year? Are there any film projects we should be looking out for?

Gianni Capaldi: Im shooting 3 projects in Canada in May/June “Complicated” (Comedy), “The Wicked Within” (Paranormal) and “Glimmer” (horror), these are my next three then I’m back in Canada for “Defining Moments” with Peter O’Toole and Rhys Ilfans. I also want to get “Grief” in the can, a paranormal movie I wrote myself sometime.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Can you talk us through how you produce a film and what the challenges are for you?

Gianni Capaldi: First of all is finding a suitable script. Genre, storyline and how it’s written is important. Intelligent writing doesn’t rocket the projected budget. Then you must think of what cast you would like to attach. This in turn must make sense for the budget of the production. Then you would figure out location and what kind of locations offer suitable tax credits etc. Then raise your money. Look for soft money (favors) and then get yourself into pre-production and have fun!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: When you first started in the film industry, did you plan to just act or was producing always something you wanted to pursue?

Gianni Capaldi: I have been in this professionally for one year, and I have to say if I could have the choice I would say acting would be my preferential choice in this industry. However, I’ve always liked achieving and business has always been a hobby in my life so I guess producing fulfills that for me. Truthfully tho, walking on a set when everything is ready to go is the bees knees…

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What film producer would you most like to collaborate with?

Gianni Capaldi: I think it would be a toss-up between James Cameron and Mel Gibson. I respect what Mel did with “Braveheart” and “Passion of the Christ,” the business aspect alone from some of these movies were phenomenal if success was translated into profits. As far as James Cameron is concerned he truly is a genius. His projects are second to none.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Before we close this up, what is the one question interviewers never ask you, but should?

Gianni Capaldi: May we give you a million to finance a movie? Just kidding. I guess interviewers never really ask you about important real life subjects such as what topics you feel strongly about, what we should try and change in the world to make it a better place, etc. etc. Also depends on the interviewer I guess, if she looked a bit like Sienna Miller then asking if I wanted to do dinner seems to never be asked.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: One final question for you: Who’s the Greatest actress, actor and producer of All Time?

Gianni Capaldi: Greatest actor for me has to be Daniel Day Lewis. Actress is a tough one however toss up between Audrey Hepburn and Julia Roberts for me, 2 totally different styles but both the best at what they do. Producer wise may I say Spielberg or Cameron? I think I just did.

Dick Zimmerman: By turning some of my favorite iconic celebrity photographs into refined oil paintings.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What was your very first portrait painting that was most memorable?

Dick Zimmerman: I did a painting of my dad at the age of seven which was displayed by my art teacher in a glass case for the entire school to view…This was my catalyst!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you could change the world through your paintings, what type of portrait would you create seeing that the world is going through a crisis right now?

Dick Zimmerman: A painting comprising the leaders of all the tension based countries joined in a moment of peace.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you had a chance to create a electrifying portrait of your dream celebrity who would it be?

Dick Zimmerman: Always wanted to do M Monroe…I was born to late!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you find it less challenging in creating a woman’s portrait versus a man?

Dick Zimmerman: No difference as long as you capture the strength and essence of each individual.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Recognized as a world-renowned portrait artist is quite an honor. Are there any downfalls to the lifestyle of an artist like yourself?

Dick Zimmerman: By keeping up and fulfilling ongoing clients commissions deadlines world wide, does not give enough time to create and experiment in other directions for yourself.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: There are so many amazing artists who haven’t got a chance to share their gift with the world. Any advice you would give to those who are trying to break into today’s art world?

Dick Zimmerman: If you are considered to have exceptional talent and unique in style you will eventually be noticed.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: In your opinion, do you think the industry of portrait painting has offered more opportunities for upcoming artists than ever before?

Dick Zimmerman: No I don’t think the respect has changed noticeably.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you weren’t able to paint anymore, would there be any other talents you might want to explore?

Dick Zimmerman: Wouldn’t want to even imagine that situation!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Who was your #1 inspiration in you becoming the magnificent portrait artist you are today?

Dick Zimmerman: My Dad turned me on to art at the Metropolitan Museum of art at the age of 5 and continued our father & son visits once a month.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Are you working on any portrait projects we may want to look out for?

Dick Zimmerman: Some very interesting subjects but not able to divulge names without permission!…Sorry but must keep my exclusivity intact!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you could change one thing about the industry of portrait painting what would that be?

Dick Zimmerman: Get rid of the computer generated imposter!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What’s the one thing you would like the world to remember you by?

Dick Zimmerman: That I always delivered more than my commissions expected!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Since you are always creating, would you ever consider teaching up coming portrait painting artists?

Dick Zimmerman: Yes, and I have taught many!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you have any family members who desire to follow in your artistic footsteps?

Dick Zimmerman: Not that I know of!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Michael Jackson is a musical icon who’s spirit will forever live on. How was it like to paint a portrait of the KING of POP?

Dick Zimmerman: A Magical pleasure!!! for an incredible being!!!

Greg Kihn: Most People know the Greg Kihn Band by our hits – The Breakup Song, Jeopardy. Lucky, Reunited, etc. All that stuff happened on the legendary Berserkley label, but KIHNPLETE is all post-Beserkley material. We’ve had some amazing musicians in the band over the years- Joe Satriani, Steve Douglas, Jimmy Lyon, Greg Douglass, Ozzie Ahlers, and Tim Gorman, my son Ry Kihn. A ton of great talent, but most of it happened post-Beserkley. We decided to make this stuff available (some of it for the first time) and we had a good time listening to it and re-mastering some of it, that it became a labor of love.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some of the things that contributed to your success?

Greg Kihn: I never seem to run out of creative ideas. To me that’s the most important thing – the ideas. Whether I’m writing a song or a script or a novel, it’s the same spark. Also a lot of hard work and a decent attitude help. I have made a ton of mistakes in my life, and I have blown it several times, but every time I bounce back and learn from my mistakes. Like my old buddy Eddie Money says – you can’t keep a good man down.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What were you pursuing before you got started in the music industry?

Greg Kihn: I was always in the music business starting from the age of 13. I had my first group and we were playing gigs and making money!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: As an artist, how would you define success?

Greg Kihn: I think about that all the time now because I’m a grandfather. I wonder what my legacy will be. Will I be remembered hit records, books I wrote, stories I made up, or decades of radio? Nah. Probably not. The road to rock and roll heaven is paved with the bleached skulls of guys like me. I just want to be remembered as a good person, one with some integrity left in the tank at the end of the day.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Any downsides to being Greg Kihn “The Rock Star”?

Greg Kihn: My privacy is drying up like a drought-stricken lakebed on the Serengeti. What else? People recognize my voice! It’s so weird to be out at dinner and somebody say, “I know your voice.” Also people always come up to me and say, “Hey, man, I saw you at- fill in the blank.” That comes from a lifetime of gigs. Everybody’s seen me somewhere. “Hey, man, I saw you with the Grateful Dead, or the Stones, or Journey.”

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What makes your music unique from other artists?

Greg Kihn: My music comes from the heart. That’s makes the connection with most people. All my best songs are written quickly – in 15 minutes, that’s how you know if its good – the great songs write themselves.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Which artists today inspire you the most and why?

Greg Kihn: I’ve been blessed with having great musicians around me, all of whom made me look a lot better. I love playing live, and the key to it is to have a great band. Which I do. My son Ry is every bit as good as Joe Satriani (in fact Joe was his guitar teacher before music college). The current lineup of the band – Dave Danza, Robert Berry, Tim Gorman, Ry and me is the best GKB ever. These guys are world-class musicians.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/ musical talent?

Greg Kihn: No, not really.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you were given the opportunity to perform with any artist, who would that be?

Greg Kihn: Bruce Springsteen. Actually I did get to jam with Bruce once in New Jersey at a little club called the Playpen (no, it’s not a strip club!) and there’s a bootleg of that show out there somewhere. There were a bunch of legendary songwriters there that night.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Thinking back to the very beginning of your career, how do you feel about your performance today and has it changed now from when you first started performing?

Greg Kihn: There’s nothing at all the same today as when I started. After a lifetime of rock and roll, my gnarly, twisted dreams of world domination have mellowed. I just enjoy life. I am very comfortable in my own skin.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How much creative control do you have over your own music?

Greg Kihn: I have complete and total control of my music.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: In your opinion, what are some things that makes you a successful artist?

Greg Kihn: I think it’s my incredibly sexy voice… or maybe it’s my ability to blend into the furniture. I don’t know.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How would you rate your live performance ability? Do you feel better performing live or in the studio?

Greg Kihn: I can’t hit the high notes like I could when I was 25, but I can still take care of business and I love every minute of it.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How long have you been performing live and creating music?

Greg Kihn: My whole life, really. Started playing guitar at 13.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans that snuck into the dressing room/rehearsal? If so how did you handle this?

Greg Kihn: We used to let fans hang out and watch as long as they didn’t get in the way. In fact, that’s how we hired a couple of our roadies.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What can people expect to see at your live performances?

Greg Kihn: I do the hits, some old tunes, a few jams; I think people can expect a fun show, one that I am enjoying as well. If the performer is having a good time, it becomes infectious. Come to a gig this summer. Come to the KIHNCERT we do every year at the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Jose. We have fun. So will you.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you receive comments from fans on how your music impacted their lives?

Greg Kihn: One couple said they conceived their daughter to the my music. I consider that the ultimate compliment.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What’s the one thing in the world that means the most to you?

Greg Kihn: My grandson Nate is numero uno right now, but this list would not be complete unless I also said my health (knock on wood), my family (love ‘em), my creative spark, and the ability to see through BS.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How has the music industry changed since you started in this business?

Greg Kihn: When I started there was no Internet, no cell phones, no iTunes, no downloads, no CD’s, no iPods, no nothing! Dinosaurs still walked the earth!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: When things seem to appear negative at times, how do you turn that into something positive?

Greg Kihn: Learn from your mistakes. Also, believe in yourself. That’s the most important thing – believe in yourself. All things are possible if you believe.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What else are you planning to achieve in the music business?

Greg Kihn: Good question. Right now I’m super busy juggling several careers. I do the morning show on KFOX radio in San Francisco and we were just bought by Entercom and we’re kicking ass in the ratings. KFOX is a classic rock station and it’s a comfortable fit for me. I’ve been doing radio now for 15 years, 14 of it in the morning on KFOX when it was a little mom and pop station in San Jose, CA. Now we’re a two signal super station, with a huge radio audience on 2 frequencies – 98.5 in San Jose and 102.1 in San Francisco. So the radio career is going along nicely.

In addition to radio I have written a pilot for a TV called 45RPM, which we will be shopping in June. We already have the interest of several major networks. It’s Sopranos style mafia meets rock and roll, about the mob in the music business in the 60’s. This is very exciting for me because it is my first foray into TV writing. I’ve been writing novels for years, and even some scripts based on those novels, but never for TV.

A movie project for HORROR SHOW based on my first novel is in the works with Corbin Bernsen (from LA Law fame) directing. Corbin’s so busy that it’s hard to pin him down but hopefully we’ll get into production next year. It’s about a B movie director in the 50’s who uses real dead bodies for zombies in his movie.

That reminds me, I will be recording the audio book for Horror Show this summer so hopefully it will be available for download in the fall.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Will you please keep us updated with your music so the fans can find out more about you and hopefully catch a live show?

Greg Kihn: There are so many websites right now, the best thing to do is go to GREGKIHN.COM, because it all flows from there. You can buy stuff, download music, read things, see what’s new – I blog all the time about this and that. For instance, today I bogged about this date in 1984 when we were on Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell as guest host. I found a link to the video of that show and posted it on my website. Last week it was a story about Dick Clark and a link to the actual footage of Dick interviewing me in 1981! My dad had written Dick a thank you letter after I was on American Bandstand the first time. He said, in all the years, and all the thousands of groups, no not one parent had sent him a thank you letter. He had it framed in his office! Blogging has become a lot of fun for me and I do it often. Check out my Facebook page, It’s all at GREGKIHN.COM.

Sonia Lynn: Yes very cut throat, you have to have a thick skin to be a model. There is alot of judgment and criticism in this industry and you need to be prepared for it.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some of the things you like and dislike about the modeling industry?

Sonia Lynn: Like: Even if you’re not drop dead gorgeous the modeling industry can accommodate those models too. There could be certain features about you that make you stand out and make you look unique that the modeling industry has started to embrace. Dislike: It’s still based on your weight and not on your looks so much.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Can you describe how the modeling industry was like when you started and how it’s changed today?

Sonia Lynn: Runway for instance, it used to be very tall and very thin women, now they tend to be more proportional and healthier looking. It’s become looking more healthy and being in shape

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you know of any models who started out modeling and later on had to put a end to their career due to unhealthy weight issues?

Sonia Lynn: Yes, I had a friend who was a model who was very skinny, and she became bulimic. They actually rejected her from modeling because she was too skinny. She went and received help for her disorder, and restored herself; but now the modeling industry says she’s too big to model so she stopped.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are the standard requirements a model must meet today to make it?

Sonia Lynn: It depends on the type of modeling. Runway she has to be at least 5′-8″ and under 120 pounds and beautiful skin and proportion and be able to walk the walk. Glamour, fitness, and swimwear modeling isn’t as hard to get into because height and weight isn’t part of the criteria those types of modeling care about.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Did you happen to pickup a fashion magazine and discover you wanted to be a model? What inspired you the most?

Sonia Lynn: I was told I should be a model for print ads and do commercials. I did model when I was younger and didn’t like it. I pursued it after I graduated because I enjoyed it more.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How much weight must a model keep off to keep her job?

Sonia Lynn: The thinner the better, but generally under 110 pounds depending on the field of modeling.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some of the things an agency looks for then just good looks?

Sonia Lynn: Attitude, Confidence and can handle the business and competition. There is always someone more beautiful than you and you need to be prepared for it. “There’s no crying in modeling”.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: The models that make it, do they have to change their lives and lifestyles to ensure that they stay competitive with the top super models?

Sonia Lynn: Absolutely, if you start to get weak it will catch up to you.You need to keep your skin clear, and stay healthy so dealing with stress in your life is a big issue to keeping a healthy weight and clear skin.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some of the things you must do to maintain your looks and competitiveness to stay on top in the model world?

Sonia Lynn: Eat healthy. stay away from junk food or fatty and sweets and try to stay active.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What is the number one thing young girls should know before becoming a model?

Sonia Lynn: The competition, these people are going to be cruel. Just know they are still beautiful because some may say you’re beautiful and some may say their ugly.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Is there a lot of cat-fights among the female models?

Sonia Lynn: Yes and no it depends, especially if someone is intimidated by the other contestants.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Did you ever get caught up in doing drugs or going to wild parties like so many models do?

Sonia Lynn: Unfortunately yes. for a little while BUT I was always able to make my photo shoots and be ready for makeup on time.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Is being a model really as glamorous as its portrayed on the runway?

Sonia Lynn: Not at all. it takes a lot of work to get where those models are.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you could do it all over again, what would you do to change some of the things you did when you first started?

Sonia Lynn: I wouldn’t have started bikini modeling right away. I’d rather have done a photo shoot with more clothes on for my first photo shoot. I want people to notice my beauty not my half naked body.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Is it harder for a girl to make it in the modeling industry today and why?

Sonia Lynn: They are a little more lenient today than it was when I first started with more plus size models and print ads which have become more diverse so it gives more people a chance.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Did your family support you pursuing modeling or did they encourage you to attend college instead?

Sonia Lynn: My mom tried to get me into it when I was younger, and I hated it. So they didn’t want me to pursue the career. When I got older, I got approached by a modeling agency, they told me to think about it because of how hard it was.but when I made it they were very proud of me.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What do you think about Tyra Banks and her show
America’s Next Top Model?

Sonia Lynn: I used to watch it alot but I realized that she contradicts herself a lot. I love her as a model, but the show is very contradicting, and that turns me off.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How did you get started in Hollywood?

Douglas Taurel: I got started in the business by auditioning for a children’s show as an actor in college. I was casted as an alligator in a children’s show and then became hooked when I performed the drunk and rebellious son in the Neil Simon’s play, God’s Favorite which awarded me an Excellence in Acting award at the South East Theatre competition.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What’s are some of the advantages of being a film producer?

Douglas Taurel: It allows you to have creative control regarding the vision you want to express and that is important to you. It allows you to be the chess player, not the chess piece.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What would you say the downside and upside to being a film producer verses an actor is like?

Douglas Taurel: The downside of being a producer rather than an actor is money. As a producer you are always trying to figure out how much money you are gong to need in order to tell your story compared to as an actor, you just show up and do your job like a hired gun. The upside to being a producer is that you have all the creative control of what you want to say. You control the message.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: In your opinion, what is the one misconception that people have about actors and producers?

Douglas Taurel: That it’s all about trying to make the most money in a project, film or job. The main reason most people become actors and producers is so they can express their creative an artistic voice. You become an artist because there is really nothing else you would rather do with your energy, time and money.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What things specifically would you like to change about the creative aspects of filmmaking in Hollywood?

Douglas Taurel: I would like to see Hollywood start accepting and producing more original stories with more new talent. I think a lot of people are hungry for newer faces for the screen of all ages “Please STOP using so much computer graphics in movies” It’s like they substitute real dialogue for stupid computer graphics. It’s kind of insulting to me. Don’t misunderstand me, I love giant alien robots but when the movie looks like it was made by my son with an Ipad, it’s a bit much.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some things you would like to accomplish, career wise?

Douglas Taurel: To tell many stories on the stage and film as truthfully as possible. “Creating is a better means of self expression than possession, it is through creating, not possessing, that life is revealed.” Vida D. Scudder, The Life of the Spirit in the Modern English Poets.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What is the one thing you admire that means the world to you?

Douglas Taurel: I’m always learning and improving my craft. Learning to me is breathing and feeling alive. To always be experiencing life and run with the bull, not to watch others do that.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Between “Many More Good Men” and “My Brothers keeper”, What’s your favorite production your working on?

Douglas Taurel: I would defiantly have to say, Many More Good Men. This is a play I’m writing that talks about the sacrifice that American service men and women have made for Americans to have the the financial and emotional freedom we have today.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Is there anything that you would like to do that you haven’t already done?

Douglas Taurel: I would like to produce and act in a “Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams. I simply just love the play and the character of Stanley. He reminds me a lot of my father, strong willed and high tempered.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: TV reality shows are getting an incredible amount of buzz these days. Could you see yourself producing a reality show?

Douglas Taurel: Maybe. If they somehow help people and not just bring people down.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: How is both of your current films unique from today’s typical movies?

Douglas Taurel: Well, right now in my career, I am leaning towards films that are like a slice of life. That are about the struggles we go through as people, lovers and individuals. I would say, stories mostly my audience can relate to.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Do you have any future film projects your working on besides the two current films?

Douglas Taurel: I’m currently writing a film about a soldier coming back from Iraq with post-traumatic stress syndrome and struggles that he goes through personally. We see the war from inside his mind.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Was producing movies always your passion? and What were some of the moments you remember that brought out your unseen talent?

Douglas Taurel: Yes, I have always had a passion to create and produce. As a kid I used to produce band concerts for my neighbors as I sang with my air guitar in the front yard. I would get the seats ready, make sure everyone was ready and then start playing. I remember throwing parties and trying to get the best bands and the biggest crowds so that my party was the biggest and the best in the neighborhood. I have taken a great joy making others experience pleasure of some kind. I guess you could say I’m a nurturer.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What are some of the things that contributed to your success?

Douglas Taurel: My wife, mother and my discipline. I believe I inherited my discipline from my father.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Who are some of the great filmmakers that inspire you and why?

Douglas Taurel: Spielberg, Godard, Scorsese, Oliver Stone. They all tell stories that are truthful and a story to them is paramount.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: If you were given the opportunity to work with a top Hollywood producer who would it be?

Douglas Taurel: Spielberg. One because he is Spielberg and two so that I can learn how to create more efficiently. I have never worked with him but I have read that he can see the shot coming up after the shot he is creating. He know what he wants two or three shots down the road. I find that amazing!

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Any accomplishments you would like to achieve in Hollywood?

Douglas Taurel: I don’t know, I guess the Oscar would be nice but if I’m recognized as someone who is an artist, that would be good enough for me.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What is your biggest fear?

Douglas Taurel: I don’t really have many fears but if I had to pick one, it would be losing the opportunity to express myself artistically.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: Would you ever consider starting a film school in helping upcoming producers?

Douglas Taurel: Perhaps. I do have a passion to teach.

Egyptianman Entertainment Group: What advice would you give to someone that’s an up and coming producer?

Douglas Taurel: Just produce. You learn more from actually producing a show than you could ever learn from a book or a school. Produce a play, film, DVD or anything that shows you how to act under pressure and how to work well with others. As young artists we all want to change the world, and create the next great thing that will be remembered forever. The truth is, we should just worry about creating the next thing, period.

Carlos: How did you begin your musical career?

Danko: Calling up my friends and asking them if they wanted to form a band. It’s as simple as that.

Carlos: Who are the other musicians in the band and what do they bring, musically and otherwise, to it?

Danko: JC plays bass guitar and Dan Cornelius plays drums. JC and I write the songs for our band.

Carlos: What about songwriting in general—what led you to it, to being a musician?

Danko: Well, I’m not interested in being a mimic and being in cover bands. I wanted to write songs and be in a band. Didn’t really think about it too much, it’s just what I’ve always wanted to do.

Carlos: Can you describe the making of the record?

Danko: We wrote the album very quickly last summer (summer ’09) and didn’t really think about the songs too much. We just wanted to catch the first creative sparks and not drive it into the ground. In the end, we had about 30 songs in various stages. We took the best 16 and entered the studio with our producer, Matt DeMatteo last fall. 11 songs made the record and 5 are floating around as b-sides etc.

Carlos: What’s the songwriting like? Does one person handle lyrics, the other music, or is it a mix of both?

Danko: JC and I write the songs but I write the lyrics since I have to sing them every night. I want it to mean something to me and give me gusto to scream them.

Carlos: How does the band, as a whole, construct the songs you have written during the recording process?

Danko: The songwriting process usually starts with me bringing in a bunch of riffs to JC. He’s good at song arrangement and can decipher where riffs get placed. From then on, the next stage resembles somewhat of a tennis match, going back and forth with ideas.

Carlos: Are there any particular records, after having heard them, that drove you to become a musician and record your work?

Danko: Sure. Everything from Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” to Black Flag’s “My War” to Kiss’ “Dressed To Kill” and everything in between – The Bad Brains “Rock For Light”, The Jesus Lizard “Goat”, Rocket From The Crypt “Circa Now”, AC/DC “Back In Black”, Black Sabbath “Sabotage”, Motley Crue “Shout At The Devil”, Aerosmith “Rocks”, Ramones “Leave Home”, Van Halen “1984″ just to name a few.

Carlos: What can your audience expect from you in the coming months?

Danko: Touring, touring and more touring. We’re going everywhere.

Carlos: You’ve got a long string of live shows ahead—do you plan on working through new material during the sets?

Danko: We already have been in the last 6 months. So far we’re playing 4 songs in the set and will probably add 1 or 2 more for the headlining tour in the fall.

Carlos: What excites you about playing your music before an audience?

Danko: That’s actually exactly it – the chance to play our music in front of an audience. Not a lot of people get that chance. There are more people playing their music in their bedrooms than there are people who get to play in front of a willing audience.

Carlos: How difficult is it to translate the music from a record and into a live setting? The records are so meticulous, it seems that it would be a difficult transition.

Danko: Meticulous? We play 4/4 Rock. It’s not hard to translate at all if you know how to play a power chord.

Carlos: Eternal question: Do you feel that you need that kind of conflict or tension to create good art?

Danko: The Eternal Question is finally answered – Yes and always.

Carlos: The music industry is not exactly at its most stable right now. Are there any influences or other artists that you look to as an inspiration, in terms of negotiating the tricky minefield of staying afloat in an uncertain industry?

Danko: There are a few bands that are embracing digital technology like Einsturzende Neubauten, Neil Young, The Arcade Fire and even Metallica now that make it user friendly to interact with their fans. We’ve always been very open in embracing new technologies too. We just uploaded an iPhone application for people to get and in the past we’ve even digitally given away an EP of ours for free.

Carlos: Do you have any plans for any future collaborations with other artists?

Danko: No plans but I’d always love to do stuff with other people. I’d love Billy Gibbons to do a solo on our record or Tom Araya to sing a song with us. There are literally dozens of people who we would love to work with.

Carlos: Are there any particular artists whose careers you admire, or see as the model that you’d like to follow in some degree?

Danko: Motorhead have always been an inspiration, both musically and aesthetically. I look to bands like The Rolling Stones too because they have their own airplane. It would be nice to have have our own plane too.

Carlos: Besides the influences who do listen to, both locally and nationally?

Danko: My music listening tastes run the gamut. There are only 2 kinds of music anyway – good and bad. Currently I’m listening to albums by Tame Impala, Budos Band, Grand Magus, Shining, Nachtmystium, Overkill, Firebird, Spiritual Beggars, Enslaved and The Melvins.

Carlos: What’s next for the band, both in terms of artistic direction, and general direction? What do you want to happen next?

Danko: Terms such as “artistic direction” are a little too pretentious for this band. We’re a Hard Rock band, always have been and always will be. There’s nothing to contemplate or map out. The next album will be hard rock. We’re a band that knows who we are much like Motorhead, AC/DC, The Ramones and Slayer know who they are too.

Carlos: What are your plans for the rest of this year?

Danko: Well this whole year has been very busy for us, whether it’s touring with Guns N’ Roses or Clutch, opening for Ozzy or playing summer festivals. We’ve also managed to make 2 videos, one for the song, “Full Of Regret”, and featuring Lemmy Kilmister, Elijah Wood, Selma Blair and Mike Watt, and another video for “Had Enough” featuring Ralph Macchio. As I’m doing this interview I’m in Prague in the Czech Republic and tomorrow we’re playing the O2 Arena with Guns N’ Roses. Starting in October we do a headlining tour of Europe and then it’s off to America until Christmas. Hopefully we’ll be able to rest in between somewhere.

Carlos: I see that you got your professional start at the hip New York venue Sugar Bar owned by Ashford and Simpson. How was it like when first meeting them?

My dad is actually friends with them. In beginning, when I was going to the bar, I thought I was just going to have dinner with my dad and get up and sing during the open mic night. I was so surprised when I got there and Nick and his wife Valerie started singing back up while I was singing Aretha Franklin’s Respect! They are such amazingly warm people so they just make you feel so comfortable and at home.

Carlos: The song “Warpath” is blowing up everywhere. Did you think it would be a hit and why?

It’s funny because you never really know what’s going to be a hit but, when I heard “Warpath” for the first and saw everyone’s reaction to it, there was just such an energy that it gave off which made me realize that it was something special.

Carlos: Will your second song be an mid-tempo or slow ballad song?

We’re thinking it’s going to be another up-tempo song called “Barbwire” and then we are going to release a ballad. Most likely “Light Years” It’s so pretty I love that song!

Carlos: So what should your fans expect from the No Questions Remain Album?

To me It’s a perfect balance of fantasy having fun with my alter ago and being vulnerable by putting some of my personal feelings on paper. I did so much writing on this album really finding myself as a true writer. It’s truly my baby and I’m so proud of it. I did it in a way where people can listen to any song and really relate to it anyway that it speaks to them. I grew up dancing so the majority of the album allows me to join my two loves of singing and dancing on stage still making sure that people got to know me as a voice, so I recorded two amazing ballads “Lights Years” and “Momentum”. Talk about real instruments like guitars and like the horns/strings of “Momentum”. Always is another pretty ballad that we turned into a dance song as well.

Carlos: So who are some of the producers on the album?

I worked with a few different amazing producers on this album. Brandon Beal, Goodwill & MGI- (Sean Kingston, Justin Beiber), Chris & Teeb (50cent), Mach1Music (Colby O’Donis, Backstreet Boys) Paul Edmunds, J.Marty (Lumidee)

Carlos: How do like being compared to the likes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Pink and Shakira?

I think it’s flattering! People have compared me to some of the best and most beautiful women in this industry!

Carlos: Would you say that Britney Spears is one of your main influences in the music business and why?

I think she is a great artist and an amazing performer but Janet Jackson has always been one of my main influences ever since I was little. Her music, performances and just her overall presence. The fact that she’s been in this industry for as long as she has and still be so humble through all of her success! I really admire that about her.

Carlos: What inspired you to become an singer and why?

I grew up loving music and I just loved the way it made me feel. I loved even more, the way I was able to feel my emotions through singing and dancing; every word, every step. There’s something so beautiful about being able to connect with so many people through something that truly inspires me. You can actually make a difference in someone’s day or moment.

Carlos: What do you attribute to your drive as an artist?

There has always been this feeling in me that life is so much more then what most people portray it to be. I’m always learning something new about myself through what I do. I met so many amazing people too and they inspire me just as much as my own experiences.

Carlos: Do you think in your opinion that it’s easier for a female singer to break into the industry nowadays and why?

I think it’s equally hard for anyone whether female or male. Music is always changing, People’s opinion about music are also constantly changing. Radio has their own opinion about what’s “good” or “hot”, rather the executives behind radio to clarify better. You have these people who have been in the business for years who are stuck on what they like and their ways of doing things as well as the people just coming into the business, starting their work at the labels. You’re not just having to prove yourself to one entity, such as: the labels in this business but also radio and finally the fans. It’s a pretty level playing field for both male or female if you ask me.

Carlos: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?

Being in rehearsals is one thing, but once you hit the stage there is an entirely and completely new whole other energy that happens up there. The fans keep are what really keeps me going. You can’t describe it in words to be honest. It’s not just about the music with performing, it is about conquering and learning more about yourself because you are really able to totally feel yourself. You feel everyone in the room. When you get off and you take that with you, you’re excited for the journey to keep going and excited to hit the stage and continue to grow.

Carlos: Is there anything you do before you come on stage?

Ironically I get extremely quiet right before I go on as I’m getting ready. It makes me nervous having too many people around me so I’m normally just alone with my dancers and some tea. Right before I go on my dancers and I say a prayer together. They are like a whole other family for me. Their energy is so amazing that it is all I want around right before the show.

Carlos: Someone once said write what you would want to perform over and over. With that in mind, what song do you love to perform the most?

I can’t pick just one because each song has it’s own energy that’s exciting to perform. “Let You Know” was the first (1st) song I wrote on the album, coming out of a bad place in the industry and starting a whole new chapter professionally. “Light Years” has that emotion that strips everything down and makes me vulnerable in front of everyone, and then there “Kidnap the DJ” which is just a fun party song. Then there are also songs from the album that I haven’t even performed yet, which I am dying to perform, so I can’t really pick just one yet.

Carlos: Have you ever had to deal with “negative publicity” or “pushy media” people? If so, how did you handle it?

I’ve never had to deal with any really bad publicity. There have been things that people have said that are not so nice about my music but everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I don’t take it personally. The fact that people are paying attention says enough. You just have to focus on you and tune everything else out.

Carlos: If you had to change one thing about your music what do you feel would be the best change to benefit you overall and why?

We’ve done it in some songs but I really want to bring back as many real musical instruments as possible. Momentum has some horns that were played live and Light Years has the live piano, and Do or Die has a sick guitar! I love them ALLLL.

Carlos: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead, alive, or broke-up
who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)

Janet Jackson because she is one of my all time favorite performers so I would love to share the stage and some dance moves with her.

Prince. I’ve always loved him as an artist but I saw him live in Vegas a few years back and thought to myself: “How cool it would be to perform with him. He’s so unique!

There 3rd is really hard.. There are so many different artist out there I could just keep going.. haha

Carlos: What got you interested in rally car driving?

My brothers would watch it and talk to me about it and then I started getting into it with them. They then showed me this rally called Bullrun that happens once a year which goes cross country. I contacted them wanting to know how to get involved in their 2006 rally, and from then on I’ve done it every year since. It is just SO much fun!

Carlos: How long have you been a rally car driver?

I’ve been doing cross country rallies since 2006.

Carlos: Will you still continue to pursue rally car driving even though your focused on your music career?

Of course. The music business keeps you busy but cars and racing are something I do for me, It’s important to always make time for yourself and do the things you love.

Carlos: What are some things you do when you’re not performing on stage?

I really am a homebody. I like just being around my friends and family when I’m not working. Besides the racing, a bunch of people in my family also paintball. I also love to sketch and paint. I spend a lot of time working out as well. I think I’m addicted. haha

Carlos: Is there anything else you would like to achieve besides music and rally car driving?

I love fashion so I would love to dive into designing my own fashion line one day. My Mother, since I was younger, would always design her jewelry and got me interested in it, so we always discussed doing a line of jewelry together, when the time is right that is.

Carlos: Where would you like to see yourself within the next five years as an artist? What are your long-term career goals?

I just want to see it grow and take me as far as I want to go. I don’t dwell on the future. I know that I want to be on tour and always performing but it’s what I’m focused on now in my career that’s going to dictate if I get there and how long I stay for. It’s being aware of whats around you now and being creative enough to stay ahead of the curve. Living in the actual now so that tomorrow I can say that I completely lived yesterday without dwelling on that for too long as well LOL. Balance.

Carlos: Is there anyone special you would like to thank for making your dream come true as an artist?

First and foremost my parents. I was fortunate enough to have both my mom and dad supporting me from the beginning cheering me on. They help me and have the best words of encouragement through the high and low’s of this business. Of course everyone behind the scenes – my manager (Roy), producers, choreographers and dancers and of course all of my fans!! They all make the dream that much more real. I couldn’t do it without them.

Carlos: What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases? tour? new?

Right now I’m working on all the promo for “Warpath” I’m doing a lot of club dates and were talking about touring in the near future. The full album “No Question’s Remain” is going to be dropping October 5th!

Carlos: Are there any other “behind the scene” secrets, tips, or additional information you would like to share with our readers?

You need to put in the work. That goes for everything not just the music industry. It’s the stuff that happens behind the scenes that is going to make the work that’s out there, in public, that much more amazing. You have to be just as in love with the “grind” as you are with the talent.

Carlos: First I want to ask how did you meet Nick Cannon?

Colette Carr: We met through a mutual friend. It was very cool how instant the creative connection was. He asked me one million questions about life and success and goals etc. and then was like “lets make a song tonight, are you ready” obviously I said “I stay ready so I don’t gotta get ready” so we made a slap.

Carlos: How is it like working with Nick Cannon?

Colette Carr: Nick is a like big kid! Candy all day, making everyone laugh, and no sleep! It’s nice to get things done and work while you’re having so much fun, and its very very essential and importantly awesome to work with someone who gets you, believes in you and whose advice is to “do you”.

Carlos: How would you describe your music for the public audience that’s never seen or heard you before?

Colette Carr: I would say get off your butt- wait, stay on your butt- and go to ColetteCarr.com its ALL there- the web episodes the music, the FREE 22 track mixytape! I’m trying to describe my sound everyday to people, its hard! It’s very unique and individual, if I HAVE to it’s probably like Electro-Pop-Euro-Hip-Hop-Rapper Chick meets under the sea sounds of crazy people? Or, if Eminem and Britney had a baby and dropped it on its head? Ha, I wish.

Carlos: How did you get started in this business?

Colette Carr: I jumped on stage at a Game concert, which you can watch on my “Life in the Day of Colette Carr” chapter 4 and chapters 1-7 on CherrytreeRecords.com or NickCannon.com/ColetteCarrecard.html

Carlos: What are some of the things you learned about the industry being that your Nick Cannon’s protégé?

Colette Carr: You learn who and what’s real very quickly. Thankfully I’m with a crew that is G’d up from the feet up, real and HONEST, Keepin it real is the #1 priority and Nick (Ncredible) and the peeps at Cherrytree + Interscope are experts at that.

Carlos: So how much input did you have in making the video “Back It Up”?

Colette Carr: I fought with sane people for the concept. Luckily, I was working with people who understood my vision — Shout out to Richie Mac — It was a tribute video for my schizophrenic uncle, our imaginations used to run wild together, a snippit of his world came to life with the video and I was very proud and happy about that. J

Carlos: So who produced the hit single “Back It Up”?

Colette Carr: Niles Howell-Dhar did, he’s the shizzleshit.

Carlos: So tell me how did you manage to generate over 29,000 downloads in just 4 days?

Colette Carr: I interact on a personal level with all my cCarr Goers and they are die hard fans.

The cCarr Goers MAKE IT GO! We are lucky to have the Internet; it gives artists an endless reach to peeps if you have the right momentum. p.s. follow @ColetteCrazy

Carlos: So are you happy with how your album “Sex Sells Stay Tooned” turned out for you?

Colette Carr: The Free Mixtape (on ColetteCarr.com) ß lol – was a very fun silly project that I am extremely proud of. It definitely shows an angle of my personality and music.

Carlos: What image do you think your music conveys and why did you choose this type of image for your music?

Colette Carr: I am me. My music is me. There are different sides to my music and me. It’s very hard to pin down specifics. Hopefully I can make some people laugh, dance, and cry when they need to cry. cCarr is the movement, get into it <3 –Colette

Carlos: If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it best fit? (Name up to Three)

Colette Carr: HATE that word Genre! Electro, Hip-hop, Pop! BLEH! There.

Carlos: Do you have any future projects you’re working on, and if so, and with who?

Colette Carr: Damon Elliot, Cherry Cherry Boom Boom, Space Cowboy, Vincent Frank, Pharrell, so so so many brilliant producers, I am having a blast. Really excited to share my project with everyone!

Carlos: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?

Colette Carr: They are the greatest! Above and beyond super-family powers of unconditional love. J <3 I remember saying “Hey mom, dad I’m gunna be a rapper” while they were having their morning coffee, and them just being excited for me, taking me seriously by supporting me 100 percent. I am a lucky lil lady.

Carlos: Have you ever entered any contests to enhance your musical career? If so describe in detail you experience and what you had hoped to accomplish when you entered. What was the outcome? Would you enter another contest in the future?

Colette Carr: No contests for me! I got to watch America’s Got Talent live, that’s as close as I’ve come. It was very exciting, love that show.

Carlos: What advice would you give a young artist trying to follow in your footsteps?

Colette Carr: BE YOURSELF! This girl (a cCarr Goer) asked how she could be just like me- I told her to figure out who she was, truly, and to embrace it, people respect that! People need to stop trying to be other people it’s flattering as hell but way lameo.

Carlos: Do you have other interest or talents that you would like to share with us?

Colette Carr: I love acting, and I make a mean apple pie.

Carlos: What female artist inspired you the most in becoming a rapper and why?

Colette Carr: I get inspiration from everyone and everything, especially my family. I saw a crazy poodle walking in Beverly Hills with a pink afro- BOOM, that’s inspiration. Every female artist that has come before me has helped pave the way for my career so I am forever grateful.

Carlos: What artist would you like to work with the most out of anybody our there today and why?

Colette Carr: I am very excited to have been working with Vincent Frank — I think we both have the same creative drive and inspire each other musically.

Carlos: Who are some of the role models to you in the music industry and why?

Colette Carr: Anybody that uses their success to make this world a better place, so Bono, Angelina Jolie and so many others. I think Eminem saves a lot of people through his lyrics. The Cure, Wu Tang, Baris Manco, any artist that keeps it real.

Carlos: Colette what do you think your biggest break of “greatest opportunity” has been so far in your musical career?

Colette Carr: Taking a leap of faith and jumping on stage and saying “fuck it” “Imma go full throttle, full speed ahead and make this happen” No one should ever half-ass anything.

Carlos: So what are some of the things you would like to conquer in the music business?

Colette Carr: I want to inspire people to be themselves, love themselves, live for the moment and have some friggin fun!

Carlos: Is the music business what you thought it would be like?

Colette Carr: I never had preconceived notions about what the music industry would be; I was tennis, tennis, tennis and then making music before I even knew where I was. I do know that my situation and experience in the industry is extremely unique. I get to work with famously talented people who are down to earth, who support the cCarr movement fully and are down to bbm me all day everyday. Rad!

Carlos: If you could change anything in this industry what would it be and why?

Colette Carr: I would kill the word Genre. It’s a disguised box that truly creative people should never be put inside. Just sayin.

Carlos: What are your immediate music career goals (Next 1 to 3 years)?

Colette Carr: Best New Artist of the year 2011, #1 hit singles, sold out arenas. I see nothing wrong with aiming for the moon- its kinda my thing.

Carlos: Is being a rapper what you always dreamed it would be like?

Colette Carr: No, I never dreamed this would even be my career or lifestyle. I was a competitive tennis player my whole life, training for the pro tour, but this is way doper than anything I could have imagined.
